Sam Lesser is an emerging leader in the fields of mechanical engineering and applied mechanics. Studying at The Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania (class of 2023), Sam is an accomplished student who has earned great admiration from his professors and colleagues. Two teachers have asked Sam to take on TA positions for the coming semesters.
Sam’s skill, inquisitive nature, and innovative mindset have given him many opportunities to learn, excel, and give back to his community. In high school, Sam was part of a student-research team at Rockefeller University. Sam showed great enthusiasm for his work and was committed to contributing to the knowledge and science which is fighting disease. He was the only high school intern to work in the lab, which eventually led to a position at a private company led by the same scientists.
Sam is also a savvy investor. From a young age, Sam showed an interest in business, finance, and the stock market. He has owned his own businesses and even written for a reputable mathematics journal.
Sam is known to be a kind leader and true mentor. He is involved in many volunteer projects, including those that advance mentoring and academic excellence among disadvantaged youth. Sam has worked closely with Breakthrough New York, an organization that provides educational support and mentoring to low-income students. He found his interest in this field when he started helping one of his basketball teammates with math assignments. He soon ended up tutoring most of the team — which then evolved into a non-profit.
